Glenn Weiser kindly sent me an additional verse, a second verse that I had never seen before:

“I dreamed we neared the English shore

A lady standing there did weep and deplore

She wept aloud and I heard her say

Alas my husband is so long away.”

Your uncles and Tommy Makem did the Croppy Boy on their first album. Liam also did it on a 1798 tribute album with the Irish Philharmonic that you and he and Donal guest appeared on. My dad didn't like the orchestration but honestly I do. In fact, it appeared in a dream I had last night. There is also a video online of Tommy Makem doing the other Croppy Boy.

And I just remembered that Donal sang the original Croppy Boy during a session when I went with him and Rory makem to Ireland in 2019.
